Polyphon Trademark Described

New member Dan Tracy's description of the Polyphon trademark in his
request for information reminded me of a delightful description of that
same insignia that I read many years ago in the journal of the Musical
Box Society of Great Britain.

It was written by the late Bruce Ansgrave, a pioneer English collector
of great warmth and wit who entertained me royally during a visit to
England in 1976.  Writing of the Polyphon trademark, he described it
thus:

  "A portrait of a stout nymph wearing garters and
   apparently about to be struck on the head by a comet!"

Isn't it great when someone can see the funny side of any given topic?
