What is Delrin (Used in Solenoid Pianos)
By Jeffrey Borinsky

In MMD 980316 John Tuttle asks "What is Delrin?"

Delrin is a hard engineering grade plastic. It is trademark of the
DUpont company. The generic term is acetal homopolymer. Don't ask me
what that means, I'm not a real expert. Suggested applications include
bearings, bushes, gears, valves and valve seatings.

Typical properties:
Colour: White or black
Specific gravity: 1.42
Tensile strength: 70N/mm squared
Melting point: 175 degrees C
Flammability: Slow burning
