Pianos with Ampico Systems
By Albert de Boer

Hi Everybody.

Now that the fourth of July festivities are once again a thing of the
past(at least in the USA) I am getting back to my favorite subject,
automatic music instruments. And I have a question: Does any anyone in
this illustrious audience have a listing of the many variations of
Ampico systems as they were installed in pianos. I know there are the
Stoddard-Ampico, the A's and B's as a great divide but there are
different types of these according to an article in the March/April
issue of "THE AMPICA BULLETIN", by Jeffrey Morgan. I would like to know
how these different types differ from each other, or what these types
meant, but have been unable up to this date to get a clear description.
Can anyone help? In a recent advertisement I noticed a piano for sale
with an A system, but a B drawer. And so my confusion goes on... Am I
the only one and can someone help? Thank you so much.

Albert de Boer.
