Music Box Books
By Larry Greenfield

[ In MMD 980703 Dawn Hermenet asked about recommended books. ]

Bea is right, the small stuff can be as fascinating, if not more so,
than the big stuff. I have about 50 small music boxes, and they are
quite interesting. You need two books:

1. The 'bible' by Q. David Bowers: "Encyclopedia of Automatic Musical
Instruments" -- lots of big stuff there, but also, a lot of info on
small items;

2. Mosoriak: "The Curious History of Music Boxes", a book from the
1940s, with a lot of history of music boxes, especially the small ones.

The first book can be gotten from Nancy Fratti <musicbox@sover.net>.
The second book is very hard to find -- I have 2 copies, but one is
missing. If interested when I find the second copy, let me know.

Regards,
Larry Greenfield
