Philadelphia Toboggan Company
By Ed Gaida

Matthew: Philadelphia Toboggan Company manufactured many things during
its history. Actually, they are still in business building cars and
trains for wooden roller coasters.

Sam High III, the son of one of the former owners, told me that the
company originally built "toboggans" or sleds and then branched out.
They built carousels, wooden roller coasters, the trains for them, and
they bought out the "Skee Ball" division of the Wurlitzer Piano Company
in the 1940s after the war. Later Sam sold the Skee Ball division to
Deltronics and then he retired and sold the company.

When they moved from Germantown PA, there were still hundreds of
patterns hanging on the ceiling for carving machines which had be
disposed of years ago. The company is still in business but I do
not know their present address.
