Mechanical Music Sites in Texas
By Jim Quashnock

Stephanie, I hope someone out there can tell me otherwise, but it
seems that unless it doesn't deal with some sort of four-legged animal,
monster trucks, or football, it doesn't come to Texas.

I've lived in Wichita Falls for the past 19 years, so I can relate to
your grief over everything being "up North". But then there's always
that problem of Texas being so big. Someone will surely state that a
music box convention was held in Austin. Well, that's at least a 6-hour
drive from here.

I used to belong to the local chapter of AMICA. But that was in Dallas
-- a 2-1/2-hour drive, one-way. Their meetings were Sunday afternoon.
After playing two church services and driving all that distance, it
wasn't much fun.

So I just continue to listen to my small collection and hope that
someday something will come a little closer to home.
