Seek Source for Quarter Sawn Oak Panels
By Scott Olson

Hi,
My hardwood source in Missoula stocks 1-4 sawn lumber If you have
a way to mill it up into 1-4 inch thicknesses you could go that route
(they have 4 quarters lumber in the quarter sawn oak). Also sometimes
advertisers in WOOD magazine (and the other wood hobby magazines) have
this width and thickness for sale by mail. One other option would be
veneer (not as hard to work with as you might think)

[ At the risk of creating two different subject entries in the
[ Archives, I'm including the spelling used by the author. Frankly,
[ when I was editing last night, I tried to use "quarter-sawn" and
[ my spelling checker griped at me. I still have it stuck in my
[ mind that "sawn", not "sawed" is how I've always heard it said
[ in regards to this cut of lumber. Does anyone know which is
 [ correct ? Thanks -- Jody
