Introduction & Maison de la Musique Mecanique
By Francoise Dussour

Hello! My name is Francoise Dussour. I am a collector and directress
of the "Maison de la Musique Mecanique" (House of the Mechanical Music
Instruments). I write from Mirecourt, the cradle of the little barrel
organ in France.

Mirecourt, in the east of France, was the birthplace of the bird-organs
named the serinette. I am highly specialized for all the instruments
from Mirecourt: bird-organs, chamber-organs, dance- and fairground-
organs, as well as barrel- and military band-organs from the XVIII
till the XX century.

I have organized many street-organ festivals in Brittany in the south
and east of France. The next one is in Mirecourt, 23 and 24 May 1999,
and also a collectors market this year on 14 March 1999.

I am very happy to join MMD !

[ the museum in Combritt, Brittany, and that about two years ago,
[ after your father's death, the museum moved to Mirecourt. We are
