Regina Sublima Piano & Mandolin Orchestra
By Al Menashe

There is an interesting item at eBay auction. It is a Regina Mandolin
Orchestra. It apparently is a coin operated piano that is mechanical.
I bet the rolls are rare --anybody know anything about them?

 [ Editor's note:
 [
[ The Regina Music Box Company (a subsidiary of Polyphon Musikwerke)
[ was America's dominant firm in the disc music box field, and began
 [ selling coin-operated pianos shortly after 1900.
 [
[ The "Regina Sublima Piano & Mandolin Orchestra" plays a five-tune
[ roll, usually made of heavy manila paper, much like a key-type
[ fairground organ. The mandolin version featured reiterating key
[ strikes, and produced music something like a mandolin.

[ There is more interesting information on page 594 of "Encyclo-
[ pedia of Automatic Musical Instruments", by Q. David Bowers.
