I have removed such tubing from many instruments.  After several years
it either just falls off or turns green, becomes gooey and then must be
cleaned out of the instrument.

The worst is when they use it for tracker bar tubing.  Everywhere it
touches brass it reacts and this glop is sucked into the pouch wells.
I am afraid to use it anywhere in the piano, now.
