I did a player using red Polylon and 320 glue from Player Piano Co.
I think the 320 glue is PVC-E.  It was when Player Piano Co. first
started carrying Polylon, I think in the early 1970's.  It went into
a customer's basement (I know about basements and pianos but the
customer is ALWAYS right).

In 1996 they called me to look at the piano.  They had had several
sewer backups and the piano didn't play.   The high water mark was
about 1 foot off the floor and there was about 1 inch of mildew on
the inside of the bottom board.

The daughter intended to take the piano from central Illinois to her
home in Alaska.  She had me do a lot of repair on the bottom end of
the piano.  The Polylon was showing a small amount of wear at the
corners but was still playable.  Since player technicians were hard
to come by in her area she had me recover the note pneumatics.  The
glue was still tight.

I am just finishing a Duo-Art that a now deceased fellow rebuilder
did in 1966 using cotton cloth (probably Player Piano Co.).  The note
pneumatics were hard as a rock.  Sounded like crushing dried leaves
when you collapsed them.  The rest of the cloth was stiff but would
probably have done for a couple of years.
