Randall Williams' 110-key Gavioli Showman Organ
By Pauline Gashinski

-- forwarded message, please reply to sender and MMD --

I scanned the only picture I have of the 110-key Gavioli organ and have
posted it to the server. I think that probably only the bottom half of
the organ is showing. Anyway if you are interested in taking a look
you can find it at:

    http://atikokan.lakeheadu.ca/~pgashins/Gavioli.html

I should have mentioned in my last note that what I am really looking
for is a description of these organs, or at least the words to help me
describe the one owned by my grandfather. I have very little knowledge
of organs, or in fact of musical instruments, and apologize for my
ignorance. The details that would help me would be the following:

  Dimensions: length width height

Carving: Would it have been wood, would the figurines also
  have been carved from wood?

  Would the statues move?

What would the fluework (not too sure what fluework is) have
  looked like?

What instruments would have been represented: flutes, pipes,
  percussions?

Would there have been any viols included in the instrument?

How would you describe the sounds coming from these organs?

And what colours would have been used?

Would the flashing lights have been installed by the maker or
  added afterwards?

And from the picture, what would the two circular objects sitting
on a stand on each side of the organ represent? In the picture they
appear to be cut in half horizontally.

I would love to hear any information on this organ and appreciate
any help at all.

Sincerely,

Pauline Gashinski
