Turntable for 78 RPM Records
By John Kleinbauer

Dear Joyce, I suggest finding a used turntable rather than mess with
your Technics. When I worked at a Radio Shack in the late 70s we sold
lots of turntables that would play 45s, 33-1/3 and 78 RPM records.
Look for both the speed setting and a cartridge that has a stylus that
can be flipped between 45/33 or 78.

If you find one of these turntables the 78 stylus should be in great
shape. Many customers brought in their turntables complaining they
skipped. The problem was that the needle had been flipped over to
78 by someone.

The customers used to look at me funny when I mentioned old records
used to run at 78 RPMs. You get the same reaction from younger people
when you mention records! Just a quick reminder to anyone reading
this: the 78 setting on a Radio Shack turntables will not play Edison
records correctly! Been there, tried that!
