Cold Liquid Hide Glue

While the glue thread is going on, I'd like to ask the suitability for
player piano work of cold hide glue, which I understand is made from a
particular combination of additives to hot hide glue, bottled and used
cold straight out of the bottle.

Does this make an air-tight seal like hot glue, or has it lost most of
those qualities?  How does it fit into the picture?
