Introduction
By Brian Smith

I'm very glad to join the MMD. I've had a love for mechanical music
for most of my life and I've discovered that it only gets better.

Restoring music machines is my favorite work, but it's not a profession
yet. I believe in nothing less than a professional attitude and I
consider myself to be a purist. I work for an engineering company, but
as a sideline I love mechanical design and experimenting with pneumatic
systems.

Collecting audio recordings of automatic music has been a hobby for
awhile and I have to thank Paul and Laura Eakins for getting me
"hooked". Their recordings from the Gay 90's Village and Melody Museum
are some of the best. Most of my knowledge is in coin pianos and
player pianos but I love all types of automatic instruments.
