Soft Playing With Solenoid Piano

Solenoid height adjustment is so critical: lower is better for soft
play.  I adjust mine so there is a small space between the key and the
front rail punchings, while music is playing.  Too much space and the
piano becomes forceful; to little, the hammers blubber.  How about
sound deadening foam put on top of grand plate, and then close the lid?
