Seek Player Action For Cable Company Piano
By Darren Willard

Hello! I am new to the MMDigest. I have been reading with fascination
the restoration stories for the past couple of weeks.

I have recently purchased (for $50) a piano made by The Cable Company.
It was built in 1919. Apparently it was a player piano, but a previous
owner removed _all_ the player works. Also, the beautiful color of the
piano has had a paint roller with black paint taken to it. The works
are a mess, yet the piano still has a wonderful tone. My questions:

1. Should I have the guts repaired first, or refinish it first?

2. Am I likely to find a player for it, and what might one cost to
purchase and install?

3.  The keys appear to be ivory, but are discolored and chipped;
replace, or what?

I look forward to your responses.
