6-Roll Changer for Organ Rolls
By Michael Coup

I recently purchased a Wurlitzer theatre organ (Op. 989) which came
with a reproducing player device and something like 140 rolls. I know
nothing about this player device and am trying to find sources for
understanding the machine.

The interface with the organ is straightforward enough, but the
player cabinet mechanism is a mystery. It is a 6-roll changer device,
and is housed in a cabinet roughly the size of a small refrigerator.
It starts, runs, the tracker bar comes "down" to contact the roll and
the machine then goes into rewind and shuts off.

My intent is to connect this player to the 3-19 Wurlitzer organ
in the Little River Studio here in Wichita KS, and convert the rolls
to an electronic format. Once accomplished, I'm happy to share the
electronic format with anyone having a compatible system.

Anyway, any help anyone might offer would be very much appreciated.
