15-Rank Kilgen Organ Removed
By Randy

I am happy to say that last Saturday I completed the removal of
the 15-rank 1928 Kilgen organ I had posted about the blower and
starter for, etc. [000726 MMD, "Orgoblo Organ Blower Motor"]

I am also happy to report the blower is connected to power and, using
the drawings and info provided by two very helpful list members, the
starter relay with the 220v coil from the Moller organ is now being
used with the Kilgens 3-wire push button starter switch which was
under the console.

The starter was originally wired up for a 2-wire toggle switch, the
Kilgen relay was wired for the 3-wire push button switch. I decided
not to use that starter because it was a totally exposed unit, while
the Moller Square D starter was totally enclosed.

Unlike the Moller, for which I obtained the original contract and spec
sheet, the church from where Kilgen came may or may not have records
because they are all in boxes and in disarray.

For now I am putting pipes on their toeboards and trying to figure out
what ranks there were and what stops were taken of which. :)

Here is the stop list from the console; an asterisk denotes the stop is
an actual rank, the rest appear at the moment to have been coupled and
borrowed, but at this point I don't know what was borrowed from what.

I shall be happy to entertain opinions on that aspect, like where
exactly DID they get a 2' Piccolo from anyway??!!

The 16' Sub base on the pedal had water damage on about pipe 24 through
32, with extensive water damage to the associated chests. Some of the
upper octaves on the Great and Choir were cannibalized by the church for
an "art display" before I came into the picture.
