Telephone via Internet
By Karl Ellison

Just a quick note: People from the UK have test-called me successfully
using www.dialpad.com. It's really quite remarkable. The faster the
caller's modem the better the sound quality seems to be (56k was good).

I may put a link on my web site to this so people can call me right off
their computer and ask questions, or even request a roll preview before
placing an order. (Is my phone going to be ringing at 3 in the morning
now?)

There are other creative uses for this: calling your answering machine
to retrieve messages, etc. What other MM applications could stand to
benefit from this free technology?

[ I have used one of these services successfully. You need pretty
[ good bandwidth. Anyone with DSL is in great shape. I now have
[ both cable and DSL. In my case the cable is better, although
[ I'm not sure that is always true. -- Jody
