Recutting Stravinsky Firebird Rolls
By David Sharpe

I would like to second Tim Baxter's suggestion that someone recut the
Stravinsky Firebird rolls. These are among my top wants.

I spoke with Harold Powell many years ago about recutting these. He
was unwilling to do it because he said each roll has extra
autobiographical stuff on it. There were musical samples which would
make little sense without the commentary and if removed would leav
rather small rolls with possible tempo problems due to the omitted
sections. I said I would take them any way he could copy them but he
worried about a large enough market.

Is there anyone else interested in trying to put together a recutting
project? Finding the rolls might also be a problem, but someone must
have them.
