Storing Music Box Discs In PVC Bags
By David Evans

Hi Guys. Kevin McElhone wrote, "I always store my musical box discs
in heavy duty PVC storage bags."

One does need to be a bit careful here, because some grades of PVC
deteriorate with time and start to produce corrosive acidic discharges,
which do your discs no good at all!

A museum conservator (Jonathan Holmes, any comments?) could probably
help us with info on which grades are okay and which are not, and
possible sources of supply. A sign of deterioration is the material
turning yellowish after a few years. I understand the bags supplied
by a certain museum in West Sussex produce these discharges.
