That should have been your first suspicion that _something_ was wrong!

I sincerely hope you sued the bastards!  They're supposed to have (or
_better_ have had!) insurance to cover such "accidents", and nothing
short of complete repairs and restoration would be appropriate.

Maybe so, but if you didn't do something to thugs like these, then
they indeed had the last laugh!  I also hope they're now long out of
business!
