Material of Snuff Box Composition Case
By Jim Bischoff

Hi there, I have just found your question on the make up of the black
composition material used to make boxes, in the MMD article of March
2000 ["sang de boeuf" or "oxen blood", in MMDigest.00.03.13].

I collect snuff boxes but I have a large number made from pressed wood
or pressed cardboard and this composition material. Has anybody told you
what it is actually made from?

Good wishes
Jim Bischoff
