Packard Piano Co. & Packard Motorcar Co.
By Dan Harrett

Regarding the eBay link at the end of 030517 MMDigest to a Packard
piano "made by Packard Motor Cars." I suspect the seller may be
a bit misinformed about the history of his offering.

Packard Motorcar Company was a Detroit automobile business from 1902
until their demise in 1956. They had no operations in Fort Wayne,
Indiana [home of Packard Piano Co.].

This would have been an interesting crossover business, but car guys
tended not to be music guys too. I'm not aware of any car company that
also made pianos, or vice versa (not even Autopiano :-)). Does anyone
else out there know?
