Lustspiel Comedy Overtures by Bela-Keler
By Nicholas Simons

I think we now have a consensus as we now know that Bela-Keler wrote
both the "Ungarische Lustspielouverture" and the "Lustspielouverture".
I know that my book-music came from a master called "Lustspiel", which
the book cutter obviously thought was short for "Ungarische
Lustspielouverture", not knowing that there were two different tunes.

This also accounts for the fact that I have heard 'my' tune similarly
named on other organs and recordings. Bill's tune is the real Hungarian
Comedy and mine is simply the Comedy Overture. It is a pity that
Bela-Keler ran out of tune titles so soon!

 [ tunes at http://mmd.foxtail.com/Sounds/lustspiel.html
