I enjoyed John Tuttle's post in MMD 040414 ["The Future of Mechanical
Music - Fun!"], but I think mechanical music goes beyond this.
I don't think most people know how great the potential is.  To me,
mechanical music machines are "instruments".

An instrument is not limited by one style of music.  An instrument is
not a toy, it's a serious machine that needs tender loving care.  An
instrument is something that can move you emotionally and reach your
spirit.  It can change your outlook and inspire you.  It can entertain
you with new music every day.

A good instrument has unlimited musical potential.  That's where
arranging comes in!  I strongly believe that with some mechanical music
machines out there, the musical potential hasn't been tapped.  There's
no end to good music!
