Tempo Marked on Piano Rolls - Metrostyle
By John Phillips

Hello MMD. I agree entirely with Julian Dyer about the Metrostyle
line. I've never understood why it has a bad reputation. Following it
with the Metrostyle pointer usually results in a performance that makes
musical sense -- at least it sounds acceptable to my untrained ear.

It doesn't pay to be to slavish about this, however. Sometimes the
line makes a dramatic swoop to the left, and meticulous following
results in a stalled roll. What do you do then; sit there and starve
to death?
