Dutch Street Organ "De Twee Engelen"
By Jan Kijlstra

In the MMD of May 16th Philip Jamison asked:

>> Does anyone know the whereabouts of the Dutch street organ "De
>> Twee Engelen" (The Two Angels)? I was told it was in the USA and
>> was asked by a Dutch enthusiast about it.

I only know an organ with the name "De Engelenkast" (The cabinet with
the angels). However, this was an organ with actually three angels on
the front. I'm not really a specialist, so it's quite possible that
there is, or has been, an organ with the name "De twee engelen".

One of the members of the MMD is Hans van Oost, the secretary of the
Dutch KDV; maybe he can be of help. (By the way: the KDV is 50 years
old this year!).

The KDV is known as a, if not _the_, major Dutch source for mechanical
music, especially organs. They do operate a nice web site (partly in
English): http://www.draaiorgel.org/

Worth a visit!
