Back a few years ago I wrote an article about neutralizing brittle
music roll paper here at MMD [991126 MMDigest, Dry Chemical
Neutralizes Acid in Music Roll Paper].

I gave a pretty good solution to the problem other then hairspray
(hair spray is lacquer); this will destroy the paper even more then
if you had done nothing.  Please read this article; it will help solve
this problem.
