Deagan Bells in Seeburg Orchestrions
By Stephen Kent Goodman

A few issues back, someone posted concerning a friend's Seeburg E that
had bells. I have seen both a Seeburg H and a K with factory original
bells installed. Both machines were unrestored, with original brittle
tubing, cloth, etc.

In both cases, the bells were made by J.C. Deagan (as were the
xylophones Seeburg used) and were stamped "A=435" on the "A" bar.
The scale, although sounding an octave higher than a xylophone, was
the typical Seeburg xylophone scale of 22 notes, G5 to E7. Even though
the "A" bar was stamped "A=435", it of course sounded an octave higher,
indicating the "A=435" was merely the reference intonation used.
