Books to Repair a Barrel Piano
By Christian Greinacher

Mel Garcia from Spain asked in MMD 050109 for information about
restoring a barrel piano. I could advise two books which have been
very helpful for me:

Most helpful information about everything concerning the piano in
general is provided by Arthur A. Reblitz in his book, "Piano Servicing,
Tuning & Rebuilding for the professional, the student, the hobbyist".

Some more specific and most valuable information for restoring the
Barrel Piano is given in Chapter 3 and Chapter 14 in the latest book
of Arthur W.J.G. Ord-Hume, "Automatic Pianos, A Collector's Guide to
the Pianola, Barrel Piano, & Aeolian Orchestrelle".

As an amateur I could restore three barrel pianos for my collection
with perfect results, just based on reading these books (plus some
general skills from restoring other mechanical music instruments).

Good luck Mel!
