This is not correct.  I should have been more specific as there is more
than one type of alcohol that is called "denatured".

One type that has no water in it is the type sold for use as a thinner
for shellac.  It is readily available, and cheap.  If you doubt this,
try looking with a search engine on the Internet.  It's obviously not
for drinking or cleaning just any "records" other than Edison discs.
It works very well for cleaning up wood entrained with old grease,
graphite or other types.
