My Favorite Coin-Operated Pianos
By Brian Smith

It's interesting to hear about everybody's favorite sound. I love
the larger upright pianos, but I also have to say one of my favorites
is the little Seeburg L. It has a sound all its own. Even though
it's a small piano, it really can put out the music.

Now, I know some people don't care for the Seeburg L because with
such a small piano scale, it could be considered "inferior" to a large
upright. But I don't think of it in that way. To me the Seeburg L
has a special "niche" because it has a special tone. If the piano
is restored well and its in a friendly environment, the music can be
skillful and 'sprightly'.

The music I like to hear on the Seeburg L is fast, catchy Capitol A
rolls from the mid to late '20s. There's something about this piano
that sounds good with these arrangements when the piano is in top form!
