Jumbo Duo-Art Program Rolls by AMR
By Joe Orens

I believe that AMR (Automatic Music Rolls, Frank Adams) produced these
jumbo size recuts from the eight or nine original Program Rolls that
Aeolian produced, along with additional "Program Rolls" assembled from
other Duo-Art rolls. I would classify the original Program Rolls as
"rare" and these recuts as "not commonly found."

Aeolian planned to produce a single roll Concertola unit (remote
spoolbox) that would handle program rolls, but I am uncertain whether
such a device ever went into production. (The 10-roll Concertola roll
changer unit did go into production, but I believe they will not handle
program rolls).

I believe that the Duo-Art drawer models produced after the merger of
Aeolian and the American Piano Company could handle these rolls. Some
standard Duo-Art pianos have been modified to handle the program rolls
and I believe a few individuals built single roll "Concertola" units.
