Hot Melt Adhesives
By Tim Gautreaux

I have actually tried the hot glue gun and found that it is not
using true hot glue, but something weaker, probably paraffin based.
The beads of glue skin and harden quickly, and do not grab at all.

The guns I'm familiar with are troublesome and messy to use and can
burn the fingers or whatever surface you lay them on. They are
fine for affixing sequins to little girls' dance costumes but I don't
think I would use such a device on any work expected to hold together.

Now that I've said this I'm sure someone is smiling patronizingly,
probably in the UK, because they are aware of some whiz-bang new glue
gun that spreads silicone so evenly they can apply pneumatics like
postage stamps. Do tell us.

Cheerio,
Tim Gautreaux
