Dutch Street Organ Videos on YouTube
By Jan Kijlstra

On YouTube several Dutch street organs can be seen and heard.
Not every video has a very high quality, but still... To see
them use the search string Draaiorgels.

A very nice video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0YXMmQiYZc
Attachment thumbnail There you can see and hear a hand-cranked, quite new, and very beautiful street organ called "De Freie". The organ is filmed from the back, so you can see the cranking (which is not as easy as it looks to be). The name is derived from Carl Frei, and this organ is built using the Carl Frei system. So it can be seen as a tribute to the great musician and craftsman that Carl Frei was. And this organ indeed is such a tribute. There is a CD-recording of this organ available. If somebody is interested just let me know. I'll be glad to be at help. Jan Kijlstra The Netherlands
