Paul-André Lawrie wonders if he did the right thing in releathering
the continuous pouchboard of his Heintzman by gluing the leather down
in sheets and then going back and forming the pouches by stretching.
I think he did the right thing.

I pondered this same subject as I was rebuilding the Wilcox & White
action for my Artrio Angelus and I came to the conclusion that this
was the method the builders originally used.  There just is no other
way to do it.

Stretching does introduce micro-tears into the leather such that the
stretch stays there.  I simply sealed the pouches by the Al Pebworth
silicone method, leaving them as free to float up and down as one would
want.  (I was also able to get five-thousandths-inch-thick leather
custom-planed for me by Columbia Organ Leathers to match the original.)
