Music Rolls with Words - An American Industry
By Bill Chapman

With regard to John Tuttle's quest for getting lyrics on a paper
roll, I once observed that WordPerfect 4 had a facility for something
called "print through". This enabled printing directly from the
computer, and basically made WordPerfect 4 into a clumsy typewriter.

Some WordPerfect versions allowed for "copy and remember my key
strokes". It became a file that would be named and saved. Such
would make it easy to record the advance of the platen and the words.
I know this would be impractical for commercial use, but would work
for a couple of rolls.

Bill Chapman,
in sunny Palm Springs, Calif., but it's not quite spring here.
