Twisting the Bass Strings on Duo-Art Baby Grand
By Don Teach

My favorite story -- Once while restringing a grand piano I was putting
the usual twist in the strings. If you look at one string then you may
assume that all are wound in the same direction, but this set had every
couple of strings wound in a different direction. A frantic call to
the maker had the maker puzzled.

An hour later he called back to report that the woman winding the
strings said she got bored and was winding them some to the left and
some to the right. He corrected the problem.
