The Future of Automatic Musical Instruments
By Michael Woolf

May I be the first to congratulate Dave Bowers and thank him for his
erudite description of the mechanical music collecting scene. His
concise summary places our interest in a perfect historical context
and also offers guidance for the future. The period he covers exactly
matches my own active time as a collector in this hobby that has
brought me such pleasure.

David pays appropriate tribute to dear friends Harvey and Marion Roehl,
whose part in this history cannot be over-estimated. I am grateful to
them, to the late Jerry Cohen, Ben and Mary Lilien and many others
including Dave himself.

Thank you for the memories. And here's to an active future in mechanical
music.
