Paper Roll vs. Computer Disk Player Pianos
By Don Teach

I have read with some interest in the comments made concerning the disc
playing pianos. I have watched the progression of these units from my
days as an employee with Marantz Pianocorder until now as a retail
dealer. There has been written (what I feel) some misinformation as to
the current performance capabilities of these pianos.

I love that I can have a friend or other good pianist sit down and record
a song for me on one and then play it back at anytime. I would suggest
that they are not for everyone but I would certainly not criticize their
abilities. Go to your local Yamaha dealer and hear one for yourself.
I would not think they are for the person that loves the old roll
operated player piano, but then that person is probably still typing
letters on an old typewriter also.
