Windows 7, like Windows Vista, has compatibility modes built in
and I have successfully run old DOS programs in a compatibility box.
I regularly use older programs in Windows 7 and Vista.  Most any
program that will run with Vista or even XP should run fine with
Window 7, particularly a database program which doesn't have any
direct I/O calls to hardware.
