Seek Correct Decals For Early Steinway Pianola
By Robert Perry

Hi all, I have a Steinway Vertegrand Pianola which Steinway's web
site thinks was manufactured in 1915. I have my doubts, since it
doesn't have a Duo-Art system but does have Themodist Metrostyle
and Temponamic. I suspect it was probably a year or two earlier.

Anyway, I'm trying to get it professionally restored this year, but
the original decal has been replaced by a modern one. Does anyone
have a 1914-15 New York Steinway with original decal and can tell me
what style it was? Mine looks to be the same as this one:

Attachment thumbnail and from the looks of things (very hard to see in this photo) it was the smaller, simpler decal that said STEINWAY PIANOLA rather than the more fancier, florid "Steinway & Sons" decal which seems to have been phased out a couple years earlier. Any help appreciated! My serial number is 171344. Cheers, Robert Perry New Zealand
