Music Roll Copying Firms
By Randolph Herr

Hello Duaine: Richard Groman, of Keystone Rolls in Pennsylvania, hired
a remarkably multi-talented fellow named Larry Doe (no relation to John!)
to build a scanner for old delicate rolls, and I had no problem lending
him some of my rarest and most valuable rolls so they could be copied.

Everything goes into a computer file and then can be recut at any time.
I believe that the scans are so accurate they record the notching on
the side of long perforations so a new master roll could be made also.
Naturally, my rolls were returned in the same condition I gave them in.
Since he has all the equipment, it might be easier to let him do it.

Also, what about Richard Tonnesen in Texas? I also have loaned rolls to
Spencer Chase in California for scanning.
