"Humanola" Pianola in Europe
By Hendrik Strengers

A member of the Dutch Pianola Society (Nederlandse Pianola Vereniging)
has found a 88-note Humanola Pianola. The instrument has been sold in
the past by Gevaert in Ghent, Belgium. Inside is a label "Schwander,
Paris"; they produced piano actions in behalf of, for example, J.
Herrburger, Paris (Odeola). The Humanola rolls were produced by the
Perforated Music Company, London.

I have seen an advertisement with an illustration of a Humanola, sold
by Metzler & Co., London, so at least three countries (Belgium, France,
England) were involved with this particular instrument.

Who can inform me of the maker and/or the history of the Humanola?

Thanks,
Hendrik Strengers
