Thank you to all those people who wrote or called concerning the free
Welte grand piano.  Some of you will probably rejoice that someone
claimed it before you.  It has now been moved safely to a new home.

However, it wasn't exactly as the previous owner had advertised to me.
It was not a 7-foot grand, but a 5-foot 6-inch baby grand.  It had
not been played, even as a regular piano, for more than 40 years.  The
leather on all of the pneumatics had rotted away years ago.  There is a
problem with the pin block, which is probably why it hasn't been played
for so long -- it will not hold a tune.  The case is badly alligatored.
It will need a total rebuild and the case will need a total refinishing.
