Sir David Salomons' Welte Player Pipe Organ
By Nicholas Simons

Joe Berman gives us a brief review of the recent CD of the Welte
organ at the Sir David Salomons House near Tunbridge Wells in England.
This CD is highly recommended for anyone interested in residence
player organs and orchestrions.

MMDers may be interested to know that the Musical Box Society of
Great Britain is celebrating its Golden Jubilee next year and is
holding a celebratory meeting in the spring. A highlight of this
meeting will be a concert on this splendid organ.

The Salomons Welte is a unique instrument, being a three manual and
pedal residence/concert organ which can also be played by Welte
Philharmonic Organ rolls as well as Welte Style 10 Orchestrion rolls.
The organ includes all effects necessary to do justice to all three
modes of operation. This is the only place in the world where one
can hear Welte Style 10 Orchestrion rolls, and there are well over
one hundred to choose from.
