Art-Echo Apollo Rollography
By Phil Bordeleau

I have seen only two of these instruments. One of them was an
identical instrument to the one described by Bob Loesch in 110405
MMDigest -- a baby grand Wurlitzer Apollo, owned by Herb Benedict.
He was a restorer in New Hampshire whose father purchased the piano
new in New York City. He had a good number of rolls as I recall,
though I was a teenager when I used to see this piano. The other
piano I know of was an A. B. Chase Art-Echo.

I recall a web site I found through the MMD web site featuring a few
recordings of wonderfully restored various pianos demonstrating all the
reproducing piano systems, including a Hallet and Davis Angelus-Artrio
and a Knabe Art-Echo. Obviously that must have been a special
circumstance.

Does anyone in New England know of what became of Herb's Wurlitzer?
