How to Tune a Player Piano Out of Tune
By Claudine Jones

My Weber Pianola has _exactly_ that endearing 'knocked-around'
quality that has been referred to; if I could change anything about it,
it would not be that. Then again, I do not consider it an appropriate
instrument for classical pieces.

Along those lines, I have two 12" Symphonion musical boxes, one table
top and one upright. The first has been tuned in a way that is clear
and somewhat harsh (to my ear); the second, I have been told, was
deliberately tuned as if the combs were different voices, hence a
choral effect. Subtle, but amazingly rich. Obviously, I prefer the
latter.
